Star Wars Zero Company: Review and Features That Can Be Added Later
Hello Readers,
Star wars Zero Company, is the newest Star Wars game set during the final year of the clone wars and the first year of the Empire. I am very happy with this game as it is very addicting and fun to play. However with that being said I still have my own criticisms of the game and how it plays, and features I want added perhaps in the future.
Make Choosing a Species for your character: Have Purpose
Players in this game play as Hawkes, who is the commander of Zero company. I love this character, but I have one problem with the character customization in this game which is the best character customization we have seen in recent star wars gaming. As many of you know I love RPG’s and believe every Star Wars Species is special and deserves to be treated special as such I think that players choice for customization and species choice should be more than just cosmetic in game. I believe each species should have it’s own well thought out special ability. Which makes choosing specific species greater than others and would provide a new aspect to character creation and development in game.
Attached is a graph which is my concept for the ability each species already in this game can have.
As mentioned above, my belief is humans have the most challenging ability as playing as a human in the star wars galaxy can vary based on their homeworld and background. Therefore unlike other species in the star wars galaxy humans should have their ability based on their homeworld. This concept can also be later linked to Zabrak’s as well depending on if they are Dathomiri or Iridonian.
Above is a rough concept for the home world abilities for humans.
More Species to play as and customize
My hope is that this is on the way for this game and will increase the varieties by which players can customize their teams, as this game is fun, but it requires more. For in a galaxy far-far away we shouldn’t only be limited to only a few species to play as.
The obvious 3 for this game:
Umbaran:Luco is one of my favorite characters we have the model lets add the ability to customize ones own to the game
Tognath: Tel-Rea is the jedi in this game which means we have a model already. When i think of this species I think of characters like Benthic Two Tubes, and his brother Edrio who both fought alongside Saw Gurrera in the Partisan Movement.
Lasat: Neesh is in the game which meanest here is a character model for this species. Thinking of the Lasat Honor Guards, like Zeb from Rebels/The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, with the iconic bow rifle could be an amazing addition to any team
My wish list of other potential species to be added later
Kifar: the species of Quinlan Vos. masterful trackers and could be useful to Zero Company.
Kel-Dor: the species of Plo-Koon, wouldn’t be a bad addition to any team, sporting their customizable masks and eyewear
Sullustan: Nien Numb is the most iconic of this species and having a sullustan on a team would be interesting to see
Nautolan: the Species of Kit Fisto, with different styles of tentacled dreadlocks to explore
Wookie: possibly the most iconic of Star Wars Species: the Species of Chewbacca, Black Krrsantan and Tarful, a wookie is an amazing addition to zero company with their enhanced strength growls and bow casters
Trandoshan: the most iconic of this species is Bossk, the trandoshan is a hunter, and if wookies are added the Trandoshan and Wookie will nearly always have an interesting dynamic being mortal enemies in the galaxy.
Khaleesh: the species of General Grievous, a hunter species with a customizable bone mask they are a formidable opponent
Gammorean: the guards of the hutt clan this species could be a great addition to any squad let alone Zero Company
Nikto: The other enforcer aside from the Gammorean, and weequay to the hutts, there are 3 different types of Nikto in canon and any of them would be fun to include as operators in Zero Company
Selkath: the species who are from Manaan a world known for its Bacta reserves. We have seen this species in the Clone Wars tv series and know they can fight as bounty hunters.
Duro: the most iconic of this species is Cad Bane. this could prove a fun species to add with different personalities and customization features. They are cousins to the Neimodian which is already in the game and could be fun to play with
Pantoran: the planet Pantora, home to Baron Papanoida(george Lucas’ character from Episode III) and Riyo Chuchi are major parts of the Clone Wars Story, I am still shocked they didn’t appear in this game as a possible species for operator in this game
Chiss: the Species of Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Chiss are the ultimate in espionage and intellect from what we have seen on screen to put them into Zero Company could be amazing.
Jawa: this is an obscure one but could prove useful. The Jawa’s are normally only on Tatooine but they are smaller than the others and i can only imagine a jawa running around a battlefield with a ion blaster fighting battle droids and collecting extra gear and scrap for the players while in play
Ugnaught: The most iconic of this species is Quel from the Mandalorian, and we did visit bespin where this species was first introduced in Star Wars the Empire Strikes back in this game, what better species to have join zero company, perhaps with a new class that allows them to take apart droids, with dialogue using the term “I have spoke”
Gungan: The Iconic species of Jar Jar BInks to have gungan on our team can prove they aren’t all just clumsy oaths they can be amazing additions to any team in game
Mon-Calamari: the iconic species of Admiral Ackbar. The Mon-Calamari are great skilled tacticians with appearances in the age of rebellion where this game ends, they could prove useful operators for Zero Company
Quarren: we can’t have the Mon-calamari withou the Quarren, who could use an ink attack ability to blind opponents removing them from a turn in game
Clawdite: the changeling like Zam Wessel from star wars episode II would make an amazing operator for Zero Company, with perks such as changing appearance to sneak attack opponents
Dug: the most iconic of this species is Sebulba, they are fast and walk on their arms this could be a fun species for Zero Company
Gran: the other species from Malastare aside from the Dug is the Gran. they first appeared in Jabba’s palace in Return of the Jedi but we have seen them as Senators, Separatists and even podracers in the star wars galaxy
Faleen: the Black Sun is already mentioned in game so why not add the Faleen race?
Pyke: we fight the pykes in a mission and their iconic helmets are already in the game so why not add them as a playable species
Paladuvian: the species of Aurra Sing. the paladuvian is a deadly operator which Zero Company could use/
Chagrian: the Chagrian is the species of Mas Ameeda. They have been seen as warriors in other star wars media but we have never been able to customize them before. I can picture playing as Hawkes or even having one on my Zero Company team as an operator
Pau’an: the Shielded melee warriors of Utapau, they are tall and lanky and could be a fun new addition to the game
Utai: the working class of Utapau. The utai, are engineers, and Mu-bo on Batuu is one of this species. They could be a great asset to Zero Company
Cerean: the Species of Ki-Adi Mundi. The Cerean species has a binary brain which can bring a new way of looking at things within Zero Company
Iktotchi: the species of Saesee Tiin in. they have a horned head and could be useful fighters against droids and clones alike as part of Zero company
Tholothian: the species of Adi Galia. They Tholothian with tendrils coming from their skull caps
Bith: the iconic band at the Mos Eisley Cantina is of this species they are one of the most iconic star wars species and I can picture them running around with Zero Company
Besalisk: The species of Pong Krell(who is mentioned many times in the game) and Dexter Jexster from Episode II. they have four arms and that alone can prove to be an interesting advantage to players
Ardenian: the species of Rio Durrant(from Solo) and Hugo Durrant(from Mandalorian and Grogu) this could be a fun species for an operator for Zero company as they have four arms and are ape like allowing them to climb faster than other species.
Amanin: The Amani are an interesting choice, simply because they are skilled hunters, they would probably use primitive weaponry but would make for a great melee species in game
Parwan: Durrown is the only named character of this species. The Parwan floats they don’t walk and is immune to most toxins. I can only imagine having a Parwan sniper as an operator in Zero Company
Talz: like the Amani the Talz are a primitive species who I can only imagine using melee weapons in game
Ithorian: the Hammer Head, while not the quickest I could only imagine them having a shrieking attack that could prove useful when surrounded in game
Aqualish: the Species of Ponda Baba. the Aqualish had two varieties and were notorious in the star wars Galaxy particularly when Jinata Security is mentioned.
Kyuzo: the Species of the bounty hunter, Embo, fast agile and resistant to gas attacks. The Kyuzo could be a useful addition to Zero Company
Gand: the Gand is the species of the Bounty hunter Zuckuss. They could be a useful and fun to cutsomize operator
Kage: the last one of my wishlist, because they are so Obscure, the Kage is a humanoid from a singular episode of the Clone Wars with glowing eyes. They could be great stealth units in game.
Aside from Alien operators we could also use some more droids, aside from the Astromech which is in game to act as operators.
My wishlist for non-species but droids to be added to the game
Protocol Droid: the iconic C3-PO style droid. Could provide support to allies just like the astromech or be programmed as a fighter just like 4-LOM
IG Assassin: the droid is known as the deadliest in star wars the IG-Assassin, explodes when captured. Could be a fun way to send off a character and take a few enemies with them when they are killed in game.
Reprogrammed CIS Droids: the potential of having any of these on your team could be amazing.
Reprogrammed Commando Droid: think of ND-5 how fun it would be to have one on your team, and to dress it up in a coat.
Repogrammed Battle Droid: funny lines, only problem is most B1’s in game are so weak.
Repogrammed Super Battledroid: the wrist rocket could replace the rocket launcher in game.
Reprogrammed Magna Guard: we need more melee classes in game this could prove a dangerous melee operator for Zero Company
Reprogrammed tactical droid: increases all droid units in Zero company’s efficiency and critical rating.
New Specializations and Talents
Currently there are 8 standard specializations and 3 exotic specializations(not including the Astromech) in the game. I would first of course allow the 12 specializations to all be customizable for custom characters. Allowing players to have custom Mandalorian Warriors, Jedi Padawan and Clone Commando would be an amazing future feature to have, Jedi and Mandalorian’s especially during the 3rd act of the game when players are playing as a rebel cell. However there are a few conceptual Specializations, I would like to pitch as well outside the ones already in game that just need to be booted over for customization.
In reality any of these can also be Classes not only specializations for players to play as, and would provide hundreds of combinations for players to use when playing the game, with tons of new unique operators.
Post Story Act 3 and Extended Story DLC/ Gear Packs.
I think the story is too short. Yes it may have taken me 10 hours to complete the story if not more time over the course of three days, but my belief is the game needs more. Players won’t ever be able to fully upgrade their base, given how little credits they get and how much they must also pay for upgrades and utilities, not to mention paying for operators and medical attention. The game isn’t replayable and also bothers me to no extent and forces players to complete the story, within the time frame. I think time limits need to be either extended or removed from the game entirely. Then on top of that once the main story is completed, I think the game should continue from there.
This is the end of the clone wars, the Age of the Empire has begun and the age of Rebellion is not too far away. Giving only 3-4 cycles to complete each operation or cycle is ridiculous, particularly for players who want to continue to play the game non-stop post act 3. It i my opinion, that ending the story after act 3 concludes and forcing players to play the game from start to finish again is a ridiculous concept, in this universe. The game should just continue on for players post act 3. They are rebels now so treat them as rebels.
In a later event in the story, Rex has players fight TK-Troopers(Early Imperial Stormtroopers). Players should be able to witness as the clones are cycled out and the TK-Trooper replaces them. To fight the Empire post Act 3, allowing Zero Company to exist for as long as they can rather than cutting us off after Act 3 of the story. This is the best Star Wars game and players want to keep going as long as they can.
It is my hope the developers and story writing team for this game decide to keep making and developing this further in the future, allowing players to continue telling this story. Ideally all of this will be free-to-play. Here is my list for DLC to continue this game.
Free Play/Post Story- the Game will just continue post story allowing players to continue to play in the galaxy following the story post defeating the coil into the age of the empire.

The hope would be for all DLC to connect and expand the story, as well as provide free-play within the galaxy, for players to continue to play the game non-stop, without the ending that is in the base game, providing dozens upon dozens of new exciting expansions to the galaxy. The game shouldn’t end after the story for the main game is complete and honestly should just continue on and on, until there is nothing left to do. The day counter in the top left corner of the screen should be able to get past 30 and should keep going until either Hawkes dies or is replaced as the leader of Zero Company as mentioned in one of my expansion concepts by a younger leader character. This game has potential to keep going endlessly and would reach its full potential if anything like this was ever added.
This game felt open ended and I would be surprised if they didn’t add more to the story in anyway be it on either side of where this story takes place in the Star Wars Canon Timeline.
Other Features I would like to see in game:
Aside from more ways to customize and play the game past just the generic story. These are other options I would like added to this game.
The ability to choose what factions the player can be a part of:CIS, Empire, Rebellion, Hutts, Pykes, Black Sun, Etc. I want to be able to choose which faction I am part of and track my allegiance throughout the game. This can cause characters to leave zero company, because of a low bond or disagreement with the faction the player has chosen.
Everysingle voice over needs both a male and female option. Hawkes needs more voice actors aside from the option we were given at launch, the face for a fully customizable character shouldn’t always be this voice that we were given, it throws me off. Espeically since we were only given the option of male voice or female voice. The same should be done for custom operators. We can always use more voices.
More ways to customize cosmetics: this game excels in character customization. However, sometimes I want armor to be separate from shirts or pants or back items to be a separate entity. We also need hats like Cad Banes, and more Formal attire, capes and ponchos in this game.
The Credits and Intel systems have to be overhauled. I don’t like how we only get a small amount of credits or Intel everytime we complete a mission. It isn’t enough, and we will never be able to max out our base or get everything we need to play with fun without a good amount of credits. Perhaps even a mini-game like sabaac or something where we may be able to get more credits or the ability to set up mining operations or invest in some sort of other operations to increase intel and credits in the game.
Turn based space combat: while not a priority as I love the ground combat as it is now, I think it would be cool to potentially have massive fleet battles or space combat in this game. This isn’t a make or break concept but it is something to consider.
The amount of Cycles to upgrade the base needs to change. I would prefer a timer by comparison to the current need to complete a mission to play option we currently have. Better yet a way to skip time and earn credits and intel without needing to go on a mission to fast forward could be fun.
The ability to move the Den once it is mobile. In act 3 I would like to have the ability to move the Den through lightspeed to different areas of space, but this isn’t a deal breaker if we never get it.
Why pay for things you already paid for. Why does it cost credits to heal allies in this game, you just paid to upgrade your medical station or build your droid workshop, why now do you still have to pay 600 credits to use a medical bed and 800 to use a bacta tank when you only receive 500-1000 on a normal mission in game? This isn’t right and I would either make it free to heal allies because it costs both time(cycles) and credits to heal Operators.
Star Wars Zero Company is an amazing game, and I hope we get more added to it in the future. In the meantime I will just remain patient.
Until next time,
May the force be with you,
